There are many pathways to health and healing. The
foundation for much of the therapy practiced at Wellness
Path is Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (
TCVM).
Traditional Chinese medicine is based upon the
principle that health problems develop when the body is
out of balance or the flow of energy, Qi, is impaired.  The
goal of therapy is to enable the body to heal itself by
correcting imbalances and restoring the proper flow of Qi.

The five branches of TCVM are:

                        Acupuncture
                        Chinese herbs
                        Tui-na
                        Diet
                        Exercise
Acupuncture has been practiced
in China on both animals and
people for thousands of years.
Acupuncture may be defined as
the stimulation of a specific point
on the body with a specific
method, resulting in a therapeutic
homeostatic effect.  Modern
research has revealed that
acupuncture points are located in
areas where there is a high
density of free nerve endings,
mast cells small arterioles and
lymphatic vessels.  Studies
indicate that the stimulation of
acupuncture points induces
release of beta-endorphin,
serotonin, and other
neurotransmitters.  As more
studies are conducted, the
mechanism of this ancient therapy
will be better understood.
Chinese herbal medicine uses
combinations of plant and mineral
products to create balanced
formulas that treat specific disease
patterns.  Some herbal formulas
are thousands of years old; others
are being researched and
developed today.  Generally herbal
formulas are quite safe and cause
fewer harmful side effects than
conventional drugs.  Optimal results
require a practitioner trained in the
art of pattern diagnosis and
Chinese herbal medicine.
Tui-na, also developed in China
over a period of 5000 years, is a
form of chiropractic and
massage therapy.  Tui-na
practitioners use various
manipulations on certain
acupuncture points or with
special limb stretching
movements to treat orthopedic
problems and a variety of other
diseases.
Nutrition plays a key role in any form of therapy.  For too long we have
been feeding our animal friends inadequate and improper diets.
Correcting the diet and supplying appropriate supplements, along with
regular exercise, can alleviate or treat many health problems.
WELLNESS PATH
HOLISTIC VETERINARY CARE
Homeopathy and Homotoxicology provide another major foundation for therapy at Wellness Path.  Known to ancient
Greeks, the modern system of homeopathy was introduced in the 19th century by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.  The
practice of homeopathy uses extremely diluted natural substances to stimulate and strengthen the body's own healing
process.
The key principle of homeopathy is the Law of Similars ...Like Cures Like.

Homotoxicology was formulated by Dr. Hans Heinrich Reckeweg in 1952.  Dr. Reckeweg combined classical
homeopathy with modern medical science.  The holistic concept of homotoxicology  is that any particular illness
manifests itself in one of six phases.  The goal of treatment is to first treat the acute symptoms, and then the underlying
chronic condition.
